About Vapourware.net
The name of this site is a computing joke.
‘The vapour refers to hot air. Companies often announce wonderful new products which then take months to appear, do not do what they were supposed to, or never appear at all. So products are categorised as hardware, software, and vapourware.’
Seemed appropriate at the time. 33 years later, still does.
If you’re looking for software, you’re in the wrong place. All Vapourware offers is virtual hot air.

Vapourware.net has nothing to do with any other “Vapourware” site. I don't own any similar .com, .au, or other “Vapourware” site — nor any “Vaporware”, for that matter. If you want the .com. .io, .whatever, go for it, but whether or not I held the .net domain, Vapourware has been mine since 1993!
You see, back then, I gave the title Vapourware to an amateur magazine I was publishing. Later that year I named my BBS after the magazine, and later still I gave the name to a website — not as “vapourware.net”, but as “vapourware.sensation.net”, a sub-domain of a friend’s website. I may have used it on my Geocities site, too. Then it slept for many, many years, because by the time I finally went to claim the canonical “vapourware.net” domain, it was taken.
Time passed, and I set up Winterknell.com and Winterknell.net instead. I made a Vapourware section on Winterknell.net for my old travel writings. Then a random conversation prompted me to check once more for Vapourware.net. It was available! So I nabbed it, and here we are.
I’m not sure what-all to use it for yet. First I have to get it set up and working as a website, and in the years since I set up Winterknell.net I’ve had plenty of time to forget the incantations. 🤪
